Remember Me My Deir | Scottish 16th century | Amarcord - Harmonia Mundi

Remember Me My Deir
Scottish, 16th century

Remember me my deir/dear,
I humbly you require
For my request that loves you best
With faithfull heart entire
My heart shall rest
Within your breast.
Remember me my dear.

Remember me, alas,
And let all rigour pass
That I may prove in you some love
To my joy and solace.
True love to move I most behove;
Remember me alas.

Remember me in pain
With unkindness near slain.
That through delay of cruel way
That in you does remain
Remit, I say; alas alway
Remember me in pain.

Remember me dear heart
That of pains has my part.
Your words unkind sink in my mind
And do increase my smart;
Yet shall ye find me true and kind!
Remember me dear heart.

CÙM CUIMHNE ORM MO GHRÀIDH
(Provisional Scottish Gaelic translation)

Cùm cuimhne orm mo ghràidh

Is iorasal mo chàil,

Chuirinn an cèill mo dhèidh gu lèir

Bhom chridhe dìleas slàn.

Mo chridhe sèimh

Am broinn do chlèibh,

Cùm cuimhne orm mo ghràidh.

Cùm cuimhne orm faraoir,

Leig seachad gach ascaoin,

Saoil annad fòs aon lasair bheò,

Sin fios an àigh is m’ aoibh.

Fìor ghaol gun deòir,

Mo lùig’ as mò,

Cùm cuimhne orm faraoir.

Cùm cuimhne orm nam chràdh,

Fo an-iochd ri uchd bàis,

Is ann mar bhuaidh do mhì-sgoinn cruaidh

A mhaireas annad fhathast.

Gabh truas, a luaidh;

Mo nuar, gu buan

Cùm cuimhne orm nam chràdh.

Cùm cuimhne orm mo ghràidh,

Bu tusa cùis mo chràidh,

Chaidh d’fhaclan faoin an sàs nam smaoin,

Mar leòintean domhain gun bhàidh;

Ach bidh mi a-chaoidh

Fìor agus caoin,

Cùm cuimhne orm mo ghràidh.
